When She Finally Trusted Herself, Everything Changed

I speak to so many women who tell me they’ve been holding it all together for so long. On the outside, they’re strong, capable, dependable. But underneath, it’s a different story.

Beneath the surface, there’s overwhelm. There’s exhaustion. There’s this quiet discomfort that something just doesn’t feel right anymore.

And then there’s that voice, one they’ve often pushed down time and time again that’s starting to get a little louder. Not demanding. Just present. Persistent. A voice that says something has to change.

It’s a part of them they've always known, but has gone unheard for far too long. It’s the part that knows they’re not just tired — they’re disconnected. They’re not just overwhelmed — they’re out of alignment. They don’t just need rest — they need truth.

That whisper? That inner knowing? That’s their intuition rising. A subtle feeling. An unfamiliar, yet familiar reminder that it's time to listen…to truly listen.

And while life may still look held together on the outside, the inside is beginning to feel different. The certainty is cracking. The pretending is tiring. And the voice within is growing harder to ignore.

This is where many women find themselves…standing in the in-between. Between who they were told to be and who they’re finally ready to unbecome to become.

It’s a common thread I hear — women holding it all together on the outside, while quietly unravelling within. Managing. Performing. Carrying it all with grace…or at least trying to.

These stories, these truths, have become the heartbeat of the book I’m currently writing. A book for the woman in transition, in reflection, in the chapter where she’s ready to reclaim herself.

And Maybe That’s You!

Maybe you’ve built a life that looks good on paper, but something inside still feels unsettled. Maybe you’ve been navigating a chapter you never saw coming, divorce, job loss, kids leaving home. Maybe you’re constantly showing up for everyone else, quietly wondering, “But when do I get to show up for me?”

You might feel stuck. Disconnected. Unsure of the next step. But deep down, something is stirring. A whisper. A knowing. A voice that says: “It’s time.” This is for the woman who’s standing at that sacred threshold. Not because she’s lost, but because she’s finally ready to find her way back to herself.

You may not have the map, but you have the compass. That sensation in your chest. That tug in your gut. That longing you can’t quite name. That’s not confusion. That’s not weakness. That’s your intuition. And it’s calling you home.

Intuition is a Superpower (Even If We've Been Taught No to Trust It)

Most of us were never taught to trust ourselves. We were taught to look outside of ourselves, to seek the checklist, the approval, the title, the plan. To define success through external markers. To measure our worth by how well we performed, the roles we inherited…daughter, partner, mother, leader, achiever.

This conditioning runs deep. Family expectations. Cultural narratives. Societal pressure. Messages that told us how to behave, what to want, who to be. And slowly, we began to build lives that looked good on the outside, but didn’t always feel true on the inside. So we learned to ignore that quiet tug, the whisper that said, “This isn’t it.” We learned to override our instincts, doubt our desires, silence our knowing. That knowing, that voice within you is your intuition. It was always there, just been buried beneath everything you were told you should be.

The Journey Of Unbecoming

This is where the journey of Unbecoming begins. It’s about gently unravelling what never truly fit. Peeling back the layers of shoulds and supposed-to’s, and returning to what’s always been there: you.

The Unbecoming framework I guide women through isn’t a formula. It’s an invitation. It’s a path back to your own truth. And at the centre of it is this: learning to hear and trust the voice within. Because your intuition is not optional. It’s your compass. And it’s time to come home to it.

When I walked away from the corporate world, I didn’t have a master plan. I had a deep knowing that the life I was living no longer fit. I was tired of squeezing myself into spaces that didn’t honour my voice. Tired of saying yes when everything in me said no. That choice to listen changed everything.

I’ve walked away from roles, titles, and a life that was expected of me, and towards a life that’s deeply aligned. One where I’m doing work I love, living freely from the inside out, and building a life that feels like home.

I am evidence of what happens when you move from the mind leading you, to the heart guiding you. It’s not always logical. It’s often not what others expect. But it is powerful.

We still need the mind of course we do. It’s brilliant, necessary, wise in its own way. Especially in moments of urgency or survival. But our heart? Our intuition? That’s where our truth lives. That’s what guides us when it’s time to come home. And I’m still on the journey. Still unlearning. Still unbecoming. Still choosing to trust myself more deeply, even when it’s messy.

5 Simple Ways to Hear Yourself Again

Take a moment to reflect:

  • When was the last time you had a gut feeling that turned out to be true?

  • Have you ever regretted listening to your intuition?

  • And what might shift if you gave it more space to guide you — not just in big decisions, but in the small, everyday ones too?

We often think intuition is something magical, reserved for the big moments. But the truth is, you’re using it every single day, even when you don’t realise it.

You know that time you felt a strong nudge to take a different route and avoided a traffic jam? Or when something told you to reach out to a friend, and they just happened to need you? That’s intuition. Quiet, constant, and wise. What would your life look like if you actually trusted it more?

Here’s how to start strengthening that connection:

  1. Slow the yes. Honour the pause. Before you say yes (or no), take a moment. Breathe. Ask: “Is this a full-body yes? Or am I saying this out of guilt, habit, or fear?”

  2. Make space for stillness. Even just five minutes. No phone. No podcasts. No fixing. Just you. Let your thoughts surface. Let your inner voice speak.

  3. Listen to your body’s cues. That tightness in your chest? The warmth in your belly? Your body often senses the truth before your mind can explain it — a tightening here, a lightness there, a nudge you can’t quite put into words.

  4. Free-write with intention. Grab a journal. Ask, “What does my intuition want me to know right now?” Write the first thing that comes. Don’t edit. Just receive.

  5. Celebrate moments of self-trust. Every time you choose yourself — even in the tiniest way — honour it. These aren’t small. They are your return.

Rebuilding trust with your intuition is not about being perfect. It’s about making space, again and again, to hear what’s already within you.

And every time you choose to listen, and deepen that trust, here’s what can happen:

📅 In Your Career & Purpose: You stop making choices out of fear or expectation—and start following what feels true.

💛 In Your Relationships: You stop shrinking, pleasing, and performing—and start showing up in your wholeness.

💰 In Your Money & Abundance: You start rewriting the stories about what you’re allowed to want.

🌿 In Your Daily Life: You choose intention over autopilot. Presence over pressure. Your own pace.

This isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about remembering that you already hold the most important one: You can trust yourself. Every whisper. Every nudge. Every tug in your chest. They’re not random. They’re your compass.

So if you feel stuck, lost, or quietly unraveling… know that you’re not broken.
You’re being invited back to yourself.

And that’s not the end of something, it’s the beginning. If that voice inside has been stirring, quietly urging you to pause, listen, choose differently…maybe this is your moment.
